Exercise selection guide Exercise Selection Guide.
The 'Exercise Selection Guide' is designed to allow you to rapidly work through some of the exercises within StepByStep, to determine which are likely to be most helpful. You will be guided to choose a pre-defined profile, which has been created with a selection of appropriate exercises.
Creating exercises using your own photographs.
This guide will show you how to add your own photographs, sounds and even sentences and videos to StepByStep, to make therapy as meaningful and functionally useful as possible. You can also create your own exercises from the large library of objects included with StepByStep.

This guide will help you to get started with looking at the results, and will show you the areas that you really should look at. The therapy that StepByStep provides will be at its most powerful when it is at an appropriate level, and is being used regularly. So what patterns of use are we looking for?
Results: Detailed Analysis
This guide is for those circumstances where you want to really look into the detail. Perhaps you want to find out when, on a daily basis the software was used, or on a particular day, which exercises were conducted, and how long each exercise took to complete. You might also want to look at exercises at the question level, for example to see which letters were typed in a spelling task, or which clues were chosen in a naming task.

Printing out the pairs game

This video tutorial describes how to print out pictures of the objects that are being worked on within StepByStep, so that they can be used in a 'pairs-game', or CIAT game. This game has found to be extremely useful in bridging the gap between the aphasia word finding exercises on the computer, and everyday speech.

A guide to choosing a microphone

The speech and repetition exercises within StepByStep have the option for the person with aphasia to record their own attempt when doing an exercise.

This could be useful in circumstances where they are trying to improve their self-monitoring skills, where the person can compare their own attempt to the computer to judge whether they are close to the target. To record sound, you will need a microphone. Although some laptops have microphones built in, we suggest that you use a microphone that you plug-in, in order to get a better quality recording.

There are many different types of microphones to choose from. We hope this guide will help you to select the best for your particular needs. All the following examples are available from Amazon. It is a good idea to look at the reviews before purchasing.
